Coin Laundry in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur was one of the cities where I have stayed for a year for work and play. It can also be considered as my main hub for travelling around Southeast Asia since this is the base of operation of AirAsia, my go-to low cost flight carrier all around the region.

Whenever I stay here for four days or more, there is always a must-visit place that I never missed: a laundry.

Generally, coin-operated laundromats in Malaysia costs about 10 MYR for both washing and drying up to 10kg of clothes. Many shops offer free detergent and softener, so you don’t have to bring your own. Furthermore, they are loaded automatically so all you need to do are just load your things, insert some coins, and push the start button.

There are so many coin laundry shops in Kuala Lumpur. However I am going to list down only shops that I have personally tried before.

Laundry Hub

3-11, Jalan Thambipillay, Brickfields, 50470 Kuala LumpurView map

Services:wash (10kg, 14kg, 28kg), dry
Detergent:included
Total cost:11 MYR (10kg)
Business hours:24 hours

Laundry Hub is a laundry shop linked to Cozy Hotel, which is located right behind KL Sentral Monorail station. If you are in KL Sentral Station, go towards NU Sentral mall and follow the directions to the monorail. At the monorail station, take the right entrance where there is an elevator and escalator. Use the escalator to go down and you will reach a roadside. Turn backwards and turn to the right where you will see motorcycle parking under the monorail station. Go through the motorcycle parking lot and you will get out to another side of the road. Turn left and you will see the laundry shop right there.

Did you think my directions are too confusing? You could check out the map. Actually, it is not that confusing. This is the nearest laundry shop from KL Sentral, so the machines are quite often fully used. If you don’t want to wait for too long, you could visit another laundry shop two blocks from here. See the next entry below.

Wash & Save

84, Jalan Padang Belia, Brickfields, 50470 Kuala LumpurView map

Services:wash (10kg, 15kg, 20kg), dry
Detergent:included
Total cost:9 MYR (10kg)
Business hours:9am – 11pm

This laundry shop was recently renovated and it’s became much more comfortable than before. The newly renovated shop now features automatic detergent and softener dispenser, basket, and a table. This is by far my favorite laundry shop in KL. Compared to other laundromats, Wash & Save costs less, though you might need to walk a bit more to reach here.

A Laundry on Tengkat Tong Shin Street

Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin, Bukit Bintang, 55100 Kuala LumpurView map

Services:wash, dry
Detergent:?
Total cost:12 MYR (10kg)
Business hours:24 hours

A laundry service located on Tengkat Tong Shin street, one block behind Alor street. Alor street is a street near Bukit Bintang area which is famous for its night market foods. The shop also features a vending machine so you won’t get thirsty while waiting for your laundry to finish. This shop is one of the most expensive, probably due to its location within KL’s Golden Triangle.
